Rheological parameters analysis: Different technical approach

Conclusion In clinical states, we did not found any correlation between the techniques using these two viscometers which appear complementary; probably in erythrocyte dysfunction, they allow a better approach of the environment and the influence, in some cases, of plasmatic factors upon erythrocyte deformability. From this point of view, we actually consider that different techniques are necessary to establish in vitro a schedule of rheological behavior.

A general solution-phase approach to oriented nanostructured films of metal chalcogenides on metal foils: the case of nickel sulfide

Oriented films of nickel sulfide nanostructures, ranging from hierarchical dendrites to nanobelts and nanorods, were hydrothermally grown on Ni foils. This approach has proven to be a general method for preparing nanostructured metal chalcogenides films on corresponding metal foils.     

Photocurrent generation in multilayer organic-inorganic thin films with cascade energy architectures

Zirconium organobisphosphonate multilayer thin films of viologen derivatives were grown on copper dithiolate multilayers of 5,15-di(p-thiolphenyl)-10,20-di(p-tolyl)porphyrin (POR) and 5,15-di(p-thiolphenyl)-10,20-di(p-tolyl)porphyrinzinc (ZOR) on a variety of substrates (e.g. Au, SiO(2)), using solution depositions methods. The multilayer structures were studied by atomic force microscopy, UV-vis spectroscopy, and ellipsometry. In the case of copper dithiolate thin films, layer-by-layer lamellar growth with low surface roughness resulted, while higher surface roughness was observed in the growth of Zr viologen bisphosphonate films. Gold electrodes modified with zirconium bisphosphonate multilayers of viologen on top of copper dithiolate multilayers of porphyrin derivatives (ZOR or POR) were photoelectroactive and produced efficient and stable photocurrents using visible light. By arranging the zinc-porphyrin (ZOR) and the free base porphyrin (POR) donors in an energetically favorable fashion, according to their redox potentials and optical energy gaps, the photoinduced charge separation was improved, and higher photocurrent quantum yields ( approximately 4%) and fill factor ( approximately 50%) of the photoelectrode were achieved.     

Highly efficient carbazolyl-derived phosphine ligands: application to sterically hindered biaryl couplings

A new family of phosphine ligands bearing a bulky carbazolyl scaffold is described. With the combination of ligand 2a and Pd(OAc)(2), difficult tri-ortho-substituted biaryl couplings are accomplished smoothly. In particular, the catalyst loading as low as 0.02 mol% of Pd for non-activated 2,6-disubstituted aryl chloride coupling can be achieved.     

Triterpenoids from Eugenia grandis: structure elucidation by NMR spectroscopy

A new pentacyclic triterpenoid, 2alpha,3beta-dihydroxylup-12-en-28-oic acid (1) and a rarely encountered pentacyclic triterpenoid, 3beta-hydroxylup-12-en-28-oic acid (2), together with five known compounds, friedelin (3), 3beta-friedelinol (4), betulinic acid (5), oleanolic acid (6) and beta-sitosterol (7) were isolated from the chloroform extract of stem bark of Eugenia grandis (Syn: Syzygium grande). The structure and stereochemistry of the new compound (1) and the rarely encountered compound (2) were established by 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopic techniques. All the above isolated compounds from this plant are reported for the first time.     

Palladium-catalyzed direct and regioselective C-H bond functionalization/oxidative acetoxylation of indoles

The first general examples of palladium-catalyzed direct and selective oxidative C3-acetoxylation of indoles are presented. The mild reaction conditions (70 °C and with weak base, KOAc) in this indole C-H-acetoxylation are notable.     

Catalytic Phosphination and Arsination

The catalytic, user-friendly phosphination and arsination of aryl halides and triflates by triphenylphosphine and triphenylarsine using palladium catalysts have provided a facile synthesis of functionalized aryl phosphines and arsines in neutral media. Modification of the cynaoarisne yielded optically active N, As ligands which will be screened in various asymmetric catalysis.     

Highly enantioselective addition of in situ prepared arylzinc to aldehydes catalyzed by a series of atropisomeric binaphthyl-derived amino alcohols

The direct addition of in situ prepared arylzinc to aldehydes with chiral binaphthyl-derived amino alcohols as catalysts can afford optically active diarylmethanols in high yields and with excellent enantioselectivities (up to 99 % ee, ee = enantiomeric excess). By using a single catalyst, both enantiomers of many pharmaceutically interesting diarylmethanols can be obtained by the proper combination of various arylzinc reagents with different aldehydes; this catalytic system also works well for the phenylation of aliphatic aldehydes to give up to 96 % ee.
